ARE YOU IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD?
                                                           Mark 12:28-34 (743-744)


    Introduction

          A.  In Mark 12:28 a scribe, who was a teacher of the Law of Moses, asked Jesus a
                question to test Him and received a compliment from Jesus. Mark 12:28-34 (743-744)

          B.  Jesus told the scribe, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” V34

                1.The kingdom of God is God’s rule.  2. To be not far is to be near.

          C.  Let’s look at the difference between those who are near the kingdom of God and those
                in the kingdom.

     I.  Those who are near the kingdom of God:

          A.  Have decided in favor of Christianity.

          B.  Support the Morals of Christianity.

          C.  Have decided in favor of Christ’s church.

          D.  Are lost.  Matthew 12:30 (712)

    II.  Those in the kingdom of God:

          A.  Are members of God/Christ’s church.  Matthew 16:13-18 (717);  Acts 2:36-41,
                47 (802)

          B.  Have been born again/twice.  John 3:3-7 (780)

          C.  Have been baptized into Christ.  Romans 6:3-7 (833)

          D.  Are Christians.  Acts 11:26 (812)

          E.  Are saved.  Acts 2:47; Ephesians 5:23 (866)

          F.  Have the promise of eternal life.  1 John 2:24-25 (900)

Conclusion:

          Self-evaluation:  Am I near the kingdom of God or in the kingdom?  Do I need to make a
                                     decision?
