DO WE SUPPORT OR HINDER THE MESSAGE OF THE CROSS?

                                                 1 Corinthians 1:18-25 (841)

   Introduction

        A.  The message of the cross is the gospel, which is the good news about the death,

              burial and resurrection of Christ when He sacrificed Himself for our sins.

        B.  Salvation is possible only through Christ (John 14:6) and the gospel (Romans 1:

              16-17).

        C.  We can support the message of the cross or we can hinder the message.

   I.  How members can hinder the message of the cross.

        A.  By failing to teach the gospel to others.  1 Peter 3:15 (896)

              1.  Are we prepared when we have the opportunity?  Questions:

        B.  By failing to give of our financial means to promote the gospel.  Philippians

              2.  The advantage of giving:

        C.  By sowingdiscord in the local church.  James 3:14-16 (893)

              1.  Emphasis must be placed on restoring relationships and not on the message of

                   the cross.

  II.   How members can support the message of the cross.

        A.  By teaching the gospel of Christ.  Romans 1:14-16 (830)

        B.  By giving of our financial means.  Galatians 6:6-10 (862)

        C.  By sowing peace and harmony in the local church.  James 3:13,17-18 (893);

              John 13:34-35 (793)
