DON’T BE FOOLISH
                                                         Luke 12:13-21 (764)

  Introduction
      A.  Jesus was requested to intervene in a family dispute.  V13
      B.  He refused and taught the danger of focusing on material possessions by telling about
            a farmer who had experienced a great deal of success.  Vv15-21
      C.  Let’s consider what the rich man remembered and what he forgot.

  Remembered
  I.  This rich man remembered himself.  Vv17-19

     A.  He referred to himself thirteen times.

           1.  Who was the most important person to this rich farmer?

     B.  There are self-centered people today who are concerned with :____________________        

II.  He remembered his worldly possessions.  Vv17-19

     A.  This rich farmer focused on assets that had to be left behind.

     B.  There is a great danger in focusing on wealth and material possessions.  Matthew 16: 24-

  Forgot
  I.  This rich man forgot his neighbors.  Vv17-19

     A.  He had no thoughts of the disadvantaged and those in need.

     B.  Matthew 25:41-46 (726)

II.  He forgot God.  Vv17-19

    A.  James 4:13-17

    B.  If we make plans and leave out God, we’ve left out the most important factor.  Phil. 4:6-7

III.This rich man forgot that there is an end to time.  Vv19-20
