FAITHFUL TO GOD?

    Introduction
         A.  Questions:  1) Do I want to be blessed by God?  2) How far am I willing to go to
                                       obey God?  There is a connection.
         B.  The Children of Israel were close to entering the Land of Canaan. ( The Wilderness of
               Paran, Numbers 12:16)
               1.  The Lord instructed Moses to send spies into the land and bring back a report. 
                    Numbers 13:17-21; 26-33 (122)
         C.  Let’s focus on several lessons that we can learn.

     I.  The Children of Israel had a special opportunity.  Vv23,27,30

          A.  The conditions of the land: _____________________________________________

          B.  What could have possibly kept them from taking advantage of this awesome
                opportunity?

          C.  We have a special opportunity because God has promised the faithful eternal
                life.  2 Corinthians 5:6-8 (854); Revelation 21:1-5 (916)

                1.  What could possibly keep us from taking advantage of the awesome opportunity?

     II.  The Children of Israel had a grasshopper complex.

           A.  Could anything have kept them from entering the land “flowing with milk and honey?
                 Numbers 13:27-14:10

           B.  God has promised the faithful eternal life.  Could anything keep us from that promise?
                 Hebrews 2: 1-5 (883); Hebrews 4:1; Hebrews 6:4-6; Hebrews 10:26-31

    III.  The Children of Israel faced opposition.  Numbers 13:28,31-33 (122)

           A.  The opposition: _______________________________________________________

           B.  God has promised the faithful eternal life, but there are “giants.”  Do we face any of
                 these giants?
                 1.  Sin.  Galatians 5:19-21(862); Galatians 6:7-8a
                 2.  Cowardice.  Numbers 13:32-33 (122)
                 3.  Rebellion.  Numbers 14:1-10 (123)
Conclusion

           A.  All of the military men-those who had been numbered- died in the wilderness except
                 for Joshua and Caleb who entered the Land of Promise.  Numbers 14:26-33
           B.  Do we want to be blessed by God?  How far are we willing to go to obey God? 
           C.  Obey God’s plan of salvation; repent.
