A.  We have had to deal with circumstances when we have asked, why?
        B.  Maybe God is trying to teach us.
              1.  I’m not saying that every circumstance is caused by God.  Examples      
              2.  There are times when God uses circumstances to expose needs in our lives.

        C.  Let’s note three needs that might be revealed to us by God through circumstances.

    I.  Circumstances might reveal that we have a faith problem.  Mark 4:35-41 (734)

        A.  What did the disciples learn from the storm?  V40

        B.  God might teach us through circumstances that we need to increase our faith.
              1.  How do we increase our faith?

                   a.  Desire a stronger faith.  Colossians 3:1-2 (871)

                   b.  Pray to our Heavenly Father.  Matthew 7:7-8 (707)

                   c.  Read God’s word and meditate.  Romans 10:17 (836)

                   d.  Obey God’s word.  James 1:22-25 (892)
   II.  God might teach us through circumstances that we have a heart problem.  Acts
         8:12-24 (808)

         A.  What did Simon learn?  Vv21,24

         B.  Circumstances might teach us that we need to get our heart right with God.
               Ezekiel 18:30-31 (621); Matthew 22:34-40 (723); Hymn Number 39

         C.  We need to pray for a pure heart.  Matthew 5:8 (705)

  III.  Circumstances might teach us that we have a relationship problem with God.
         Mark 4:11-12 (734)

         A.  The parables of Jesus revealed those who would be converted and those who wouldn’t.

         B.  Those who have been converted have a relationship with God.  1 John 1:7,9 (899);
               1 John 2:1-3

         C.  Those who have a relationship with God can look forward to eternity.1 Cor. 15:51-58
Conclusion:  When God teaches us that we have a faith problem or heart problem or relationship
                     problem with Him, let’s place emphasis on developing in these areas.
