HOW DID I GET TO BE ME?
Introduction
A. As we start our study let’s ask ourselves this question, …………
1. In the world there are good people and bad people, etc.
2. Did you awaken this morning and all of a sudden become you?
B. I think it’s worthwhile for us to consider how we got to be who we are.
Body
I. My/your character is the accumulation of the decisions we have made.
A. It’s tempting to blame circumstances beyond our control for who we are.
Examples:
B. We are who we are not because of our circumstances, but because of how we
have responded to these circumstances. An example is King Saul. 1 Samuel
13:7-14
C. We need to accept responsibility for what we have made of ourselves. Galatians
6:7
D. Decisions have a cumulative effect. They tend to ‘snowball.’ Decisions
become a habit. An example is Daniel. Daniel 6:8,10
II. It is sobering to think that every act matters.

Our words. Matthew 12:36-37
Our deeds 2 Corinthians 5:10
III. It is encouraging to think that every act counts.
A. We can do something to change our lives for the better.
1. Act in faith. Mark 12:41-44
2. Repent. Romans 2:5-6,8
3. Make decisions that lead to heaven. Romans 2:5-7
