IN SPITE OF GOD’S BLESSINGS
                                                   1 Corinthians 10:1-13


Introduction

    A.  God had abundantly blessed the children of Israel.  Ways:

    B.  In spite of God’s blessings, the Israelites sinned and rebelled against God.  Sins:
         
    C.  There is a parallel between the attitudes and practices of the Israelites and the
          attitudes and practices of some people today.

Body

     I.  The Parallel

          A.  God has abundantly blessed us.

                1.  Delivered us from the bondage of sin and satan.  Romans 6:23, 16-18

                2.  Given us the privilege of being clothed with Christ in baptism. 
                     Galatians 3:26-27

                3.  Provided us with all spiritual blessings in Christ.  Ephesians 1:3

                4.  Given us His written word to direct us.  2 Timothy 3:16-17

           B.  The response of some people:

                 1.  Lust or crave the things of the world.  James 4:1-5.  Examples:

                 2.  Idolatry, which is putting other things before God.  Matthew 6:33
                      Examples:

                 3.  Adultery or sexual immorality.  1 Corinthians 5:1

                 4.  Discontent expressed by murmuring, grumbling and complaining.

           C.  What to do if guilty:

                  1.  REPENT!  Repentance is the giving up of one’s stubborn will in order to
                       accept God’s will.  Matthew 21:28-31.  WHY?  Romans 2:5-11, 4
                     
  Conclusion:  The goodness of God leads to repentance.
