Hebrews 10:26-31 (p888)


        A.  The writer of Hebrews delivers a powerful message regarding the judgment of

              1.  According to vv 26-27, those who reject God’s provision for salvation have
                   no remedy for sins because forgiveness of sins can only be found in Christ’s
                   perfect sacrifice.
              2.  In v31 the writer expressed the judgment this way:  “It is a fearful thing to 
                   fall into the hands of the living God.”

    I.  It is certain that all impenitent sinners will fall into the hands of the living God

        A.  Because God’s word  declares this to be true.  Matthew 11:20-24 (711); Acts 17:
              22-23, 29-31 (818)

        B.  Because God did not spare His Son, but sent Him to die for our sins.  Romans 8: 
              32: 2  Corinthians 5:20-21 (854)

        C.  Because we know that God has condemned people before.  Genesis 6:5-7 (4)
   II.  It will be a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Living God

        A.  Because of the price paid for sin.  1 Peter 1:17-21 (895)

        B.  Because those who reject God’s plan of salvation are without excuse.  Acts 17:

        C.  Because  impenitent sinners have opportunities to repent.  2 Peter 3:9-11 (899)
        D.  Because impenitent sinners know what awaits them.

  III.  How can we escape this falling into the hands of the Living God?

        A.  By accepting the gospel of Christ.  Acts 8:35-39 (808)

        B.  By remaining faithful.  I John 1:7
