GOD'S AMAZING GRACE (Part V)

II Peter 3:17-18

  Introduction:

       A.  These are the Apostle Peter's last recorded words.

   I.  Why is it necessary for christians to be encouraged to grow in grace?

       A.  Because of the attitudes and values of people.

            1.  Illustrate

            2.  We value work, effort , and performance.

            3.  We can't carry these values with us as we relate to God.

                 works:  Romans 3:10, Romans 3:23

                 effort and performance:  Romans 6:23

            4.  Aren't we blessed that God doesn't relate to us on the basis of works,                              effort, and performance?

        B.  Because grace  teaches us.  Titus 2:11-15

             1.  To say no to ungodliness and worldly passions. Romans 6:1-6, 12-14

             2.  To live self controlled, uprightly, and godly lives.v12

             3.  To eagerly await the return of Jesus.  vv13-14

      Conclusion:

         A.  "What A Day That Will Be"
