LESSONS FROM EZRA
                                                           Ezra 7:27-28 (385)

   Introduction

        A.  Ezra, the priest and scribe, wrote in Ezra 7:28, “ _____________________________.”

              1.  Ezra had plans to return to Jerusalem from Babylon to re-establish moral, spiritual
                   and religious life.

              2.  He had faith that the Lord would enable him.

        B.  Why did Ezra enjoy God’s blessings?  Is there anything we can learn to ensure the
“hand of the Lord”  in our lives?

        C.  Let’s consider why the “hand of the Lord” was upon Ezra.

    I.  Ezra had prepared his heart.  Ezra 7:9-10 (384)

        A.  For three reasons:

        B.  We must have a cleansed heart for God to use us.  2 Timothy 2:19-21 (880); Romans
              6:17 (833)

II.  Ezra had prayed to the Lord.  Ezra 8:21-23 (386)

        A.  Philippians 4:6-7 (869); Hebrews 11:6 (889)

III.  Ezra was willing to trust the Lord.  Ezra 8:1

        A.  James 2:17,24,26 (892); Galatians 5:6 (862)

IV.  Ezra was willing to deal with difficult situations.  Ezra 9:1-2 (386); 5-6,15; 10:1,3

        A.  We face difficult situations in our society and they can influence us.

              1.  Will we stand, pray, confess and repent if need be?

Conclusion

        A.  Three questions:

              1)  Have I prepared my heart for God’s service?  2)  Do I believe that God
rewards those who seek Him?  3)  Do I have an obedient faith?
