NEED SPIRITUAL STRENGTH?

   Introduction

       A.  Ever disappointed with yourself?  Ever discouraged by others?  Ever frustrated

             over circumstances?

       B.  There are times when we need renewed spiritual strength.

       C.  Four avenues through which we can receive spiritual strength to face the adverse

             circumstances of life:

   I.  We can receive spiritual strength through God’s word.  2 Tim. 3:16-17 (880)

       A.  The Bible is profitable in four ways.

             1.  Learning of doctrine

             2.  Reproof

             3.  Correction

             4.  Instruction (the process of training)

       B.  Our disappointments, discouragements and frustrated can be alleviated by one or

             more of these ways.  Examples:

       C.  We must use God’s word for it to be profitable to us.  1 Peter 2:2-3 (895); Hebrews

  II.  We can receive spiritual strength through prayer to God.  Philippians 4:6-8 (869)

       A.  Don’t worry.  V6

       B.  Make request to God with thanksgiving.  V6

       C.  Trust God.  V7

III.  We can receive spiritual strength through meeting the needs of others.  Acts 20:

       32-35 (821)

       A.  Two types of people are 1) givers and 2) receivers.

       B.  Which type is more fulfilled?

IV.  We can receive spiritual strength through praising and worshipping God.

       Psalm 34:1-10; 17-19 (441)

Conclusion:  We can’t receive spiritual strength from God’s word unless we use it.  We

        ……….prayer unless we pray.  We can’t be fulfilled by meeting needs unless we give.
