       A.  Background
             1.  The prophet Jeremiah had been imprisoned by King Zedekiah for declaring that
                  Jerusalem would fall to the Chaldeans and that Zedekiah would be taken captive.
                  Jeremiah 32:1-5
        B.  While Jeremiah was in the court of the prison, he received a message from God for
              the people.  Jeremiah 33:1-3

        C.  Let’s use V3 and develop a study about prayer.

    I.  God wanted the people to call or pray to Him.  “Call to Me.”

        A.  Let’s consider five hindrances to prayer.

              1.  A failure to practice the habit of prayer.  1 Thessalonians 5:17 (874); 1
                   Samuel 12:23 (231)

              2.  Ignorance about prayer.  Luke 11:1 (762)

              3.  Unconfessed sin.  Isaiah 59:1-2

              4.  Improper motive.  James 4:2-3 (893)

              5.  A lack of persistence.  Matthew 7:7 (707)

   II.  “I will answer.” Jeremiah 33:3

        A.  Conditions necessary to receive God’s answer.

              1.  We must ask in faith.  Matthew 21:22 (721)

              2.  We must let God’s word abide in us.  John 15:7 (794)

              3.  We must pray in the name of Jesus.  John 14:13 (794); Hebrews 4:14-16 (885)

              4.  We must expect an answer.  Jeremiah 33:3


        A.  Do I have a healthy habit of prayer?  Question: If the answer is “no” then what is the
              problem?  You can correct it!
