Psalm 51 (448)

          A.  Questions:  Am I committed to God?  Do I have the proper relationship with God?
Do I need to recommit to God?

          B.  Let’s determine when we need to commit to God.

      I.  Three conditions that warn us that we need to recommit to God.

          A.  When we are not troubled by sin.  Vv1-3

                1.  Could it be that we have accumulated many unconfessed sins.  Etc

                2.  Consider the attitude that brought David to repentance.  Vv1-3

He depended on God’s love, mercy and forgiveness.  Vv1-2
                     David acknowledged his sin.  V3

          B.   When there is no joy in serving the Lord.  Vv 8,10,12

                1.  Do we go through the motions of serving and worshipping God without service
                     from the heart?

          C.  When we are not concerned for the lost.  V13
                Matthew 28:18-20 (730)

II.  How do we recommit to God?

          A.  Believe in God’s love and mercy.  Psalm 51:1; Psalm 130 3-4 (480)
Mercy is God’s withholding from us what we deserve.

          B.  Be honest about our sins.  Psalm 51:3-4.  Confess sins specifically.

          C.  Ask God to forgive us.  Psalm 51: 1,2,7,9; 1 John 1:9 (900)

          D.  Give God our whole heart.  Psalm 51:15-17

Conclusion:  If you have determined that you need to recommit to God, why not do it now?
