        A.  There are people who have obeyed God’s plan of salvation but for various reasons
              have become unfaithful.
        B.  A look at 1 Corinthians 9:27
              1.  Paul used a boxing term for giving someone a black eye to gain control of him.
              2.  This was figurative language to convey the idea that we must conquer the body-
                   the seat of appetites and lust- and lead it captive.
        C.  Let’s consider the importance of faithfulness.
   I.  God has abundantly blessed His Children.

        A.  He has delivered us from the bondage of  sin.  Colossians 1:13-14 (970)

        B.  God has permitted us to be baptized into Christ.  Galatians 3:26-27 (861)

        C.  God has provided us all spiritual blessings in Christ.  John 6:47-51 (785);
              John 7:37-39 (787)

        D.  God leads us by His word and the Holy Spirit.  1 Peter 1:22-25 (895)

  II.  In spite of God’s blessings, there are members who have become involved in the practice
        of sin.
