SAFEGUARDS AGAINST BEING DECEIVED


    Introduction

         A.  The apostle Paul warned the Christians in Thessalonica not to be deceived by false
               teachers.  2 Thessalonians 2:1-4 ((875)

               1.  There have always been false teachers.  2 Peter 2:1-2 (898)

         B.  How can we safeguards ourselves against being deceived?

    I.  We need to occasionally review the fundamentals of God’s word.

         A.  Paul had previously taught them about the second coming.  1 Thess. 4:13-18

               1.  He reminded them in 2 Thess. 2:1-4.

         B.  We need to be reminded occasionally of God’s plan of salvation, how God desires
               for us to worship Him through five avenues from the heart, etc. 2 Peter 2: 1-3 (895)

               1.  Mark 16:15-16 (748); Acts 2:36-41,47 (802)

               2.  Singing, praying, teaching (studying), observing the Lord’s Supper and giving.

    II.  We must love truth.    2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 (875)

          A.  We must love truth because it’s from our Heavenly Father.  Matthew 22: 37-38 (723);
                Deuteronomy 13:1-4 (158)

   III.  We must stand firm on Divine traditions/God’s revealed truths.  2 Thess. 2:15 (875);
          A.  Must accept and obey truth.   2 Thess. 3:6; Jeremiah 6:16,19 (561)

   IV.  Let us pray for one another.  2 Thess. 1:11; 3:1 (875)
