LOOKING FOR A CHURCH ( PART IV )

 

  Introduction:

      A.  Review

      B.  Three other features for which I would look.

  I. Features:

       A. ... the Bible is taught as the all  suffient

           Word of God.  2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV.

           1.  " Inspiration of God " means, " God breathed."

           2.  The scripture has been recorded by the Holy Spirit.

                 2 Peter 2:20-21.

           3.  The scripture is profitable ( 2 Tim. 3:16 ) for:

                a.  Doctrine

                b.  Reproof

                c.  Correction

                d. Instruction in righteousness

           4.  The scripture provides us with what is sufficient to

                enable us to be complete or mature.

                2 Tim. 3:17

       B.  ....I'd look for a praying church.

            1.  The early disciples understood the importance of prayer.

                  Acts 1:12-14 ; Acts 2:42

            2.  We pray to our Heavenly Father through Jesus to make

                 known our needs and request.

                 Hebrews 4:14-16 ; Philippians 4:6-8

        C.  ... I'd look for a sprit filled church.

            1.  God's spirit lives in the church.  1 Corinthians 3:16-17.

            2.  The Holy Spirit guides and motivates us to glorify God.

                 1 Corinthians 6:19-20.

            3.  The Holy Spirit assists us as we worship God.

                 a.  Praying.  Romans 8:26-27

                 b. Singing.   Ephesians 5:18-19

Conclusion:

        A.  A letter of testimony

                 c.  Unity.     Ephesians 4:3
