THE FIRST DRAUGHT OF FISH
Luke 5:1-11
Introduction
A. Jesus stood by the Lake Gennesaret (v1). Also called Sea of Galilee, Sea of
Tiberias, and Sea of Chinnereth in O.T. (Num. 34:11
B. The people gathered around to hear the word of God (v1).
C. Jesus entered Simon’s boat and asked him to go out a little from the land (v3).
D. Jesus taught the people (v3).
E. After He finished, Jesus told Simon to launch out in the deep and let his nets
down for a catch (v4).
F. Simon saw no wisdom in letting down his nets, but he did as Jesus instructed
(v5).
G. The draught of fish were so great that it took another crew of fisherman to bring
their boat and help (v7).
H. The observers were astonished (v9)

I. Jesus has power over nature.
II. Jesus gave a spiritual application to the miracle.
