THE GOOD NEWS OF THE BIRTH OF JESUS
                                                        Luke 2:8-14 (750)

   Introduction

       A.  December 25th has been designated as the day to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
       B.  Let’s read the announcement of the birth of Jesus in Luke 2:8-14.
       C.  Let’s note four reasons this announcement was good news.

   I.  Because it brought great joy.  V10

       A.  The shepherds’ fear was replaced with joy.
       B.  According to Matthew 2:10, the wise men were overjoyed.
       C.  We should have joy because of Jesus.

             1.  When we suffer.  1 Peter 4:13 (897)

             3.  When people are saved.  Luke 15:10 (767)

             4.  Always.  Philippians 4:4 (869)

  II.  Because it was for all people.  Luke 2:10

III.  Because Jesus saves sinners.  Luke 2:11

       A.  God sent Jesus just at the right time to be our savior.  Romans 5:6-9 (832)
       B.  We’re saved by the gospel of Christ, which is the good news of His death, burial
             and resurrection when He sacrificed Himself for us.  1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (850)
       C.  We must appropriate and unite with the sacrifice Jesus made for us.  Romans 6:3-6

IV.  Because it glorifies God.  Luke 2:13-14

       A.  We glorify God every time we use the name Jesus.
