THE HEALING OF THE NOBLEMAN’S SON
John 4:46-54

A. Briefly discuss narrative.
B. The nobleman’s coming to Jesus has in it many common elements of human
Nature.
C. Let’s give consideration to some of these common aspects
Body
I. The nobleman’s son was sick.
A. He was interested in the physical welfare of his son.
B. Fathers should be concerned with the physical welfare of their children, but
also with the spiritual. Ephesians 6:4; Deut. 6:6-9; Prov. 22:6
II. The nobleman came to Jesus.
A. Because he had a pressing need and he knew Jesus could meet that need.
B. We have a pressing need for salvation. Romans 3:23; 6:23
1. We must come to Jesus by faith. Hebrews 11:6; John 8:24
2. We must come to Jesus in obedience. Hebrews 5:9
III. The nobleman believed the words of Jesus when He said, “Go your way; you son
lives.”
A. We must believe what Jesus says about salvation.

IV. The nobleman trusted in the promise of Jesus.
A. For example, we must believe in the promise of eternal life. John
14:1-3; 1 Peter 1:3-5
Conclusion
A. The faith that the nobleman manifested toward Jesus is the kind of faith that
we must have.
