THE KINGDOM OF GOD


  Introduction

      A.  The phrase “kingdom of God” is used quite often by Jesus in His parables.

      B.  What did He mean?

  I.  Let’s, first, consider the term “Kingdom.”

      A.  It is not an area of land or territory.  John 18:36 (797)

      B.  The kingdom of God is a condition of heart, mind and will where God rules.
            Luke 17:20-21 (769)

II.  The Kingdom of God existed in the past.  Daniel 4:1-3 (653)

III.  Jesus spoke  of the kingdom of God being present.  Luke 11:20 (763);
      Luke 17:20-21; Matthew 6:33 (707)
  
      A.  The church had not been established at this time.

IV. Jesus prayed for the kingdom to come.  Matthew 6:10 (707)

      A.  “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

      B.  The Messiah’s kingdom had not come.  Matthew 6:10; Mark 9:1 (739)

      C.  The Messiah kingdom is the church (Matthew 16:13-20 (717); Daniel 2:44 (652)
            which is an extention of God’s kingdom to this earth.

      D.  Those who do God’s will today are in the church.  Matthew 16:18-19; Acts 2:47

  Conclusion

      A.  God has always had a kingdom and He will always have a kingdom.  His kingdom 
            is eternal.  Daniel 4:3

      B.   In any age and generation, people who have allowed God to rule their heart, mind
             and will were in the kingdom of God.

      C.  Those today who do God’s will are in His kingdom.

      D.  When Jesus spoke about the kingdom of God in His parables, He was thinking of
             doing God’s will on earth as it is in heaven.
