THE PARABLE OF THE GREAT SUPPER

                                                        Luke 14:15-24 (767)

  Introduction

       A.  This parable is about a householder who prepared a great feast.

             1.  The feast was announced in advance.  On the day of the feast, servants would

                  announce the start of the feast.

       B.  The invited guests made excuses.  Let’s look at the excuses given.  V18

   I.  The first said: v18b

       A.  This excuse represents the person who puts his business or job first.

       B.  Examples:

       C.  We need to be called away from earthly activities to focus on God, and this is what

             Worship does.  Hebrews 10:22-24 (888)

II.  The second man said: v19

       A.  This excuse represents the person who has a new possession with which he is

             obsessed.

       A.  The excuse given here is the demand of  home (family).

      A.  All the excuses given by the guests were in themselves good reasons.  Explanation:
