WHAT GRACE WILL NOT DO!


    Introduction

         A.  The Bible teaches that we are saved by God’s grace.  Ephesians 2:8-10 (864)

               1.  A simple definition of grace is unmerited favor.

         B.  The Bible teaches that God’s grace provides eternal life.  Romans 5;20-21 (853);
               Romans 6:23

         C.  There are some things that grace won’t do.

     I.  Grace won’t set aside the necessity of accepting the gospel of Christ.

         A.  1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (850)

               2.  Saved by the gospel (vv1-2).

         C.  What will happen with those who don’t accept the gospel of Christ?  1 Thessalonians

   II.  Grace won’t saved people living in rebellion.  Hebrews 10:26-31 (888)

         A.  To whom does writer have reference?  See v25

         B.  Here is a dangerous doctrine:  Those who have been baptized into the church and later
               rebel against the church have a good relationship with God.  2 Peter 2:20-22 (899)

  III.  Grace won’t cancel the punishment of hell unless we comply with God’s terms of
         pardon.  Revelation 20:11-15 (916)

Conclusion

          A.  God’s grace is a wonderful thing.

          B.  We must place ourselves in God’s grace because we can’t save ourselves.

          C.  We need a savior.
