.                                                 DUTIES OF ELDERS TO THE CHURCH

  Introduction:

          A.  The elders of the church are selected to carry out ‘God - given’ responsibilities.

     I.  Duties

           A.  Take heed to himself.  Acts 20:28

           B.  Take heed to the flock.  Acts 20:28

           C.  Feed the flock.  I Peter 5:1,2

           D.  Take the oversight.  I Peter 5:2

           E.  Be example to the flock.  I Peter 5:3

           F.  Watch for grievous wolves.  Acts 20:29-31

           G.  Stop the mouth of vain talkers and deceivers.  Titus 1:11

           H.  Support the weak.  Acts 20:35

            I.  Pray for the sick and administer to their needs.  James 5:16

            J.  Settle matters of differences in the church.  Acts 15:5-6

            K.  Select and appoint teachers and preachers.  I Timothy 4:14

            L.  Watch for the souls of the members.  Hebrews 13:17

   Conclusion:

            A.  Elders aren’t selected to ‘let other people’ carry out their duties because they                     are responsible and accountable.  On the other hand, they must always  ‘stay                    in touch’with the members.
