BLESSED BY GOD'S WORD

James 1:16-25

  Introduction:

        A.  James teaches us that every good and every

              perfect gift comes from our Heavenly Father

              (v17), including His revealed word.  v21

        B.  We need an open Bible instead of a closed

              Bible.  Illustrate

        C.  Let's consider how we are blessed by God's

              word.

   I.  We must first receive God's word. 

        v 21. Ilustration about processionary caterpillars.

        A.  Receive God's word with meekness.  v21

  II.  We must reflect on God's word.

        A.  As we listen to the word.

        B.  As we look into God's word.

              v 25

        C.  As we continue in God's word.

  III.  We must obey God's word. 

       vv 22-25

        A.  We are condemned if we fail to obey, and blessed

             when we obey.  2Thessalonians 1:6-10, 

              James 1:21, 25,2 Timothy 3:16-17

              1.  God's word corrects when we are wrong,

                   protects from danger, and directs our

                   living.

  Conclusion:

        A.  God's word teaches us how to be saved.

        B.  God's word instructs us how to live.
