A LOOK AT BAPTISM AGAIN
                                                                Acts 8: 35-39
  Introduction:
         A.  I want us to start a study of baptism, which
             is one of the most important subjects in
             the New Testament.
         B. An explanation of a principle of
             interpretation and illustration.
  I.  Baptism:

         A.  The word "baptize" means to dip, to
             submerge, to bury. The literal meaning
             of the Greek word "baptizo" means an
             immersion (The Authentic New Testament) .
          B.  Baptism is a command given by
             Jesus.  Matthew 28:18-20 ; Mark 16:16

         C.  Baptism is to be administered in the name
             of the Father,  and of the son,
             and of the  Holy Spirit. 
             Matthew 28:19
          D.  Baptism occurs in water.  Acts 8: 35-39

         E.  Baptism is a burial in water. 
              Acts 8: 35-39; Romans 6:3-5;
             Colossians 2: 12.

         F.  Baptism is an act of faith. 
             Mark 16:16; Acts 8:36-37; Acts 8:12;
             Colossians 2:12
