WHAT HINDERS ME FROM BEING BAPTIZED?

Acts 8:35-36 (NKJV)

    Introduction:

        A.  In Acts 8:36 a man asked a question after having

              been taught about Jesus.

       B.  The question: "What hinders me from being

            baptized?"

   I.   There are several conditions that can hinder a person

        from being baptized.

       A.  Uncertainty regarding the appropriate age can

             hinder baptism.

            1.  What is the appropriate age for a child to be

                 baptized?  The answer depends on several

                 factors:

        B.  A lack of understanding about baptism can

             hinder a person from being baptized.

            1.  One must understand that baptism is:

                 *   Commanded.  Matthew 28:19-20

                 *   For the remission of sins.  Acts 2:36-39

                 *   Necessary to put one into a relationship with

                     Jesus and be united with the sacrifice of Jesus.

                 *   Romans 6:3-6

                 *   A burial in water.  Romans 6:4, Acts 8:36,38

        C. Procrastination hinders baptism.

            1.  satan will hinder us ( 1 Thess. 2:18 ) and one

                 way is by causing us to put off what we know

                 we should do.
