FACING THE FUTURE WITH GOD

James 4:13-17

  Introduction:

        A.  James 4 deals with the christian's relationship to God.

        B.  James warns us of three wrong directions as we face the future.

        C.  Let's look at these wrong directions, and then note how to face the future with God.

   I.  These people made their plans without .  vv 13, 15

        A.  A place  v 13

        B.  A period of time.  v 13

        C.  profit v 13

        D.  A procedure  v 13

  II.  These people were arrogant.  vv 13, 16

  III.  These people put off doing good.  v 17

  IV.  How we can face the future with God:

        A.  We must make our plans by involving  GOD.  v 15

              1.  trust - Proverb 3:5-6, Proverb 16:3, Acts 5: 33-39

              2.  ask - Proverb 16:9

              3.  confidence - Philippians 1:6

        B.  We must walk humbly  before God.  James 4:6-8a, 10

        C.  We must do good/right  without delay.  James 4:17, 14

  Conclusion:

        A.  We don't know what the future holds, but we do know who holds the future.

        B.  Go with God and HE will go with you.
