Psalm 62:1-6


  Introduction:
       A.  King David emphasizes the fact that God alone gives His children the strength to keep from being shaken.

  I.  Everyone needs an  anchor in difficult times.
       A.  In desperation we try to find something, or someone, that can't be shaken.
       B.  We can always depend on God as our anchor.  Hebrews 6:19 ; Psalm 62:1-2 ;                 Psalm 121:1, 2, 7, 8.

II.  Everyone will experience  difficulties and problems sooner or later.
       A.  David's problem. Ps. 62:3-4
       B.  Having problems is a part of life.  Examples of possible problems.

III. Children of God can depend on their Heavenly Father.  Ps. 62:5-6
       A.  Song, "I Shall Not Be Moved", written by Edward H. Boatner.
       B.  Three reasons for depending on God:
            1. The assurance of our Heavenly Father who longs to answer our prayers.  Ps. 86:7
           2. The assurance of our High Priest, Jesus, who sits at the right of God making                    intercession for us. Hebrews 7:25-26
           3. The assurance of the Holy Spirit who intercedes for us and leads us.                                   Romans 8:26-27,14

Conclusion:
       A.  Will any difficulties and problems that come upon us in life stop God from                         helping?  Romans  8:33-39.  NO
       B.  No matter what life brings us, we can always depend on our Heavenly Father.
