LOOKING FOR A CHURCH
Introductions:
A. I want you to suppose with me that I am looking for a church of which to become a part.
B. For what would I look? A beautiful building? A church where many people attend? There's
nothing wrong with that!
C. But what features would I want the church, who is the people, to have.
May I share with you, in a series of lessons, features for which I would look.
I. I'd look for a united church.
A. Jesus, the head of the church, taught and prayed for unity among His disciples. Jn. 17:20-23
B. The apostle Paul has instructed us how to be united. Ephesians 4:1-3
C. Paul has given us the _ingredients for unity. Ephesians 4:4-6
1. These are the bases for unity and we need to forget about petty issues. Illustrate
D. How can we be united behind Jesus' pray for unity among His disciples? How can we be united
behind Paul's instructions for unity?
1. We accept the principle from Amos 3:3.
2. Illustrate by using marriage vows. The husband and wife are united in marriage because they agree
to accept God's principles for marriage.
E. You're worshipping with a church that is united. Not because we agree on all issues, but because
we have made it a priority.
Conclusion:
A. Congregation stands and sings,"Blest Be The Tie."
B. Congregation reads, Mt. 6:9-13
