LOOKING FOR A CHURCH ( PART III )

Introduction:

A. Last Sunday I pointed out, that if I were looking for a church of which to become a part, that I would

look for a loving and caring church. John 13:34-35

B. I have also pointed out that I would look for a united church. Eph. 4:1-4

C. It is commendable for a church to have unity and to express love, but without Christ the church has no power.

I. Several features of a Christ centered church:

A. A Christ centered church teaches that Christ is the way to God. John 14:6

B. A Christ centered church teaches that the gospel of Christ is the power of God to save. Rm.1:16-17

C. A Christ centered church teaches the Great Commission  Mt. 28:18-20

D. A Christ centered church teaches that Jesus is the founder of the church.

  Mt. 16:13-19 j

E. A Christ centered church teaches that Jesus is the head of the church.

  Eph. 1:22-23;

  Col. 1:17-18

F. A Christ centered church teaches that Jesus is the savior of the church. Eph. 5:23-27

Conclusion:

A. Review fill-in-the-blanks.

B. Imagine in your mind's eye the word, christian. Now take away Christ, and you have left i a n which

can stand for I am nothing.

C..I would look for a church that exalts CHRIST.
