Question: Am I drifting?

  I.  Principles about drifting
      A.  It takes no effort for a boat to drift.  It's the same for a christian.  Hebrews 2:1
      B.  A boat always drifts downstream.  The same is true for a christian.  Hebs. 2:1,
      C.  As a boat drifts downstream, it picks up speed.  It's the same for a christian.  Hebrews 3:12-14
      D.  A drifting boat is in danger of shipwrecking.  So are we!  James 1:13-15

  II.  Common signs of drifting.
      A.  Diminishing desire to study God's word.  II Timothy 3:16-17
      B.  Diminishing desire to  pray to God.  I Thess. 5:17
      C.  Diminishing desire to  worship God.  Ps. 89:7, Hebrews 10:25
      D.  Diminishing desire to associate with God's people.  I Corinthians 12: 25-27

  III.  How do we overcome spiritual drifting?  Ps. 51 (selected verses)
      A.  Acknowledge our condition.  Ps. 51:3
      B. Ask God's forgiveness.  Ps. 51:1-2, I John 1:9
      C. Apply an obedient faith.  Ps. 51:10-13
      D. Expect to go against the tide.  Mt. 7:13-14

  Conclusion:
      A.  Am I drifting?  Our salvation is too great for us to neglect.
