GOOD NEWS ABOUT JESUS
Luke 2:10


  Introduction:
         A.  Because of who Jesus is and what He has done for us, His birth is the
              most important birth that has ever occurred.
              1.  Jesus is a member of the Godhead and has reconciled us to God.  Romans 5:8-10

I invite you to reflect on the good news about Jesus.

    I.  The virgin birth of Jesus.  Luke 2:8-12
         A.  The angels announced the good news of the birth of Jesus. v10
         B.  The shepherds accepted the birth announcement as good news. v10
         C.  The angel Gabriel implied to Joseph that the birth of Jesus was good news.
         D.  His birth is good news to everyone.  I Timothy 1:15

   II.  The life of Jesus is good news. 
          A.  He went about doing good.  Acts 10:38
          B.  He is the good shepherd.  John 10:11-16
          C.  He is our personal savior.  John 17:3
          D.  He lived a perfect life.  I Peter 2:21-24

  III.  The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus constitute good news.
          A.  Not that He had to die, but was willing to suffer for us because He loves
               us. 
          B.  Paul refers to Christ's death, burial, and resurrection as the gospel that
               saves.  Romans 1:16-17, I Corinthians 15:3-4.  The word 'gospel' means
               good news or good tidings.

   IV.  The promise that Jesus has made about our eternity is good news. John
          14:1-3, I Peter 1:3-5

  Conclusion:
          A.  The blessings of the birth, life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus
                can be ours!
          B.   Have you complied with the commands of Jesus to become His disciple?
